Prague Congress Rescheduled for 2022

The Executive Committee of the International Association for the Study of Scottish Literatures has voted to postpone the Third World Congress of Scottish Literatures, to be held in Prague, until the summer of 2022.

This was a difficult decision to make.  Covid cases remain high across the world and the possibility of summer travel is still extremely uncertain. Concerns about health, safety, and the feasibility of travel render an in-person Congress impossible.

It would be possible to put the World Congress entirely online, but because this is a large conference with participants located across the world, working around time differences would entail the use of pre-recorded video presentations/sessions along with live ones. The World Congress is intended to facilitate encounter and exchange by bringing together scholars from different parts of the world, and we would like to remain faithful to this principle.

We are deeply disappointed that it is necessary to postpone the Prague Congress again, but we are planning some smaller online events to tide us over until we can meet in person. Stay tuned for further details!

1 February 2021 – 30 November 2021 – confirmation of submitted abstracts, submission of new or modified abstracts

31 December 2021 – announcement of acceptance/refusal of modified or new abstracts

1 February 2022 – “early bird” registration begins (we hope that this may be a safe date at which we will be able to guarantee that the in-presence Congress will not be cancelled because of covid)

30 April 2022 – end of “early bird” registration

22-26 June 2022 – the Congress will take place! (fingers crossed)
